The Government must commit to long-term funding to stop the rise in homelessness.
Rough sleeping has risen by a staggering 27% in England in the last year. And as the cost of living continues to bite, more and more people are being pushed into homelessness.
The Government must take urgent action to address the rapidly rising rates of homelessness and rough sleeping.
That’s why St Mungo’s, working with other sector organisations, is urging the Government to uplift funding to meet increasing demand and enable vital, long-term work to end homelessness to continue.
Homelessness is not inevitable. With the right interventions, the Government can stop people from ending up on the streets.
“We made so much progress on rough sleeping during the pandemic, which clearly demonstrated what can be done when we work together with a shared purpose and dedicated funding. It’s time we applied the same energy to stop this homelessness and rough sleeping crisis spiralling further.” Emma Haddad, St Mungo’s Chief Executive.
